Staff Selection Commission — Constable (General Duty) Examination
The SSC exam for Constable (GD) in the CAPFs and SSF, Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles and Sepoy in NCB.
SSC GD Constable is live on Kitabey for institutes — coaching centres can run SSC GD Constable-pattern tests for their students using their own questions or an uploaded PDF. Kitabey's own SSC GD Constable question bank is still being built, so self-serve practice and mock tests for students will open up as it grows.
SSC GD Constable starts with a computer-based exam at matriculation level, followed by a Physical Efficiency Test, Physical Standard Test and medical examination.
The CBT has four equal sections. The last section is a language paper where you choose either English or Hindi.
| Stage covered | Computer-based exam (followed by PET/PST and medical) |
| Duration | 60 minutes |
| Sections | General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Knowledge & General Awareness, Elementary Mathematics, English or Hindi — 20 questions each |
| Total questions | 80 questions, 160 marks — single-correct MCQs with 4 options |
| Medium | English, Hindi and SSC's regional-language mediums; the language section is taken in English or Hindi, as chosen |
Marking scheme
Correct
+2 for every correct answer
Incorrect
−0.25 for every incorrect answer
Decide between English and Hindi for the language section at the start, and practise only that variant.
At −0.25 against +2, an informed attempt is usually worth taking. Still avoid pure guesses.
The CBT is only the first stage. Start PET training alongside written preparation rather than after the result.
With 80 questions in 60 minutes, quick arithmetic and fast recognition of standard reasoning types make the difference.
