Railway Recruitment Boards — Non-Technical Popular Categories (Graduate & Undergraduate Levels)
The Railway recruitment exam for non-technical posts at graduate and undergraduate (Class 12) levels.
RRB NTPC is live on Kitabey for institutes — coaching centres can run RRB NTPC-pattern tests for their students using their own questions or an uploaded PDF. Kitabey's own RRB NTPC question bank is still being built, so self-serve practice and mock tests for students will open up as it grows.
RRB NTPC is conducted separately for graduate-level and undergraduate-level posts, but CBT-1 follows the same pattern for both — only the difficulty differs, with the undergraduate paper pitched at Class 12 level.
CBT-1 is a screening stage. Shortlisted candidates move on to CBT-2 and the post-specific stages listed in the notification.
| Stage covered | CBT-1 — computer-based screening test |
| Duration | 90 minutes (120 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates) |
| Sections | General Awareness (40), Mathematics (30), General Intelligence & Reasoning (30) |
| Total questions | 100 questions, 100 marks — single-correct MCQs with 4 options |
| Medium | English, Hindi and the regional languages listed in the CEN |
Marking scheme
Correct
+1 for every correct answer
Incorrect
−1/3 for every incorrect answer
40 of the 100 questions are GA. A steady daily routine for static GK, general science and current affairs is the highest-return habit for NTPC.
Each wrong answer costs a third of a mark. Attempt questions you can narrow down; leave pure guesses.
Seating arrangements and puzzles take time to set up. Practise them regularly so you can judge quickly whether to attempt or skip.
There is no sectional timer, so set your own order — many candidates start with GA to bank quick marks, then move to maths and reasoning.
